A PIZZA WITH A STRANGER...
I lived there for three years, in Mortimer Street, and during this time I never met someone interesting. All around were funny coloured house, full of funny people; obviously only in my flat it wasn’t like that: people lived like tigers in cage, and I was one of the tiger. The others thought that I was a lawyer, and I never told them that I wasn’t. For the work I do, my therapist recommend me to take part to Greenpeace or something like that, “to try to save your soul”, she said; I tried to explain her that the fact that I’m a lawyer doesn’t mean that I’m a bad guy, but…anyway…Then to my dismay, someone moved to my flat, on the apartment next to mine. A Mr. Luciano Frascarelli, a stranger; a typical Italian man who expressed himself by making a lot of strange movements with the hands and who listen everyday loudly Italian music. He’s completely different to me: he’s cool! He’s not a ghost, like me, always alone. He reminds me a bird, a very coloured bird in his cage, flying in it singing loudly. Some rumours want that he worked in a famous pizzeria in Rome, called “Una pizza?! Ma anche si!” Every time I met him, he laughs at me and say “Buongiorno!” His house was always full of friend (that called him Fraska): he plays guitar and everybody sing and dance. I would play with him: I could do everything to share some time with this man! A strange traffic was around his house; every morning at 8:00 a.m. a strange man bring something to his house, in big smelling boxes. Fraska and the man talk strange English, with some Italian words in the middle. During an evening I met him on the street and he invited me in his house: it was amazing! The house, with the coloured lights, has a very particular atmosphere; there was a black table in the middle with a big bamboo on it, a futon in the corner, a tiny kitchen with a white table with a mocha on it and a big freezer next to it. Fraska always talk to me smiling: I love talk with him. Suddenly he opened the refrigerator’s door and I discovered what the mysterious boxes were full of: the cabinet was full of pizzas, different kind of pizzas with everything on it, chocolate, vegetables, fruits; one looked like a famous square of Rome, another looked like a garden: wonderful! I passed a very pleasant night with him; the morning after I discovered that he was moved away. I entered in his house and I saw a pack on the black table with my name on it and a written “How to make a good pizza and be happy”. Suddenly I was thinking that my loneliness time was over: I called one of my work’s friends and invited him in my house “I’m making something special for dinner”, I said to him. And suddenly my house seemed more colourful.
