The Neighbour

It's funny that in my street everybody knows everybody but we don't talk with each other. It's like everybody doesn't know anybody. It's kind of weird... All the neighbours look at each other like they were judging something, especially me. They all look at me like I were an alien or something. It's true that I don't talk with anybody (I'm not that communicative), and it's also true that, sometimes, I ignore them...
Till one day, when a new neighbour came. He was moving to the house right in front of mine, where an old man who had died some months ago, had lived.
So... He moved and I didn't see him all day, except in the morning when I was going to check the mail. Usually he was there too, but I just couldn't talk to him. Besides being not that communicative, he intimidated me. I had no words to say...
This situation was becoming familiar, because I saw him every single day, and we simply didn't say anything to each other. Till the day that he said "Hello! Good morning! How are you?", and I started to panic, because I didn't know how to act, what to say... And I just said... "Hello!". Then he smiled and asked me if I would like to have a cup of tea or coffee and I accepted.
We went to his house and started to talk about everything and, suddenly, I felt like somebody had released me and from that day on I would be able to do everything I've ever wanted to do.
Nowadays I talk with him every day and we became best friends. I'm so grateful that he spoke to me that morning, because now I'm a completely different person and, of course, more communicative. I already talk with all my neighbours, besides they haven't changed at all, but I don't care. My neighbour taught me how to live life and how to enjoy every single second of it.
